I like the plans to go well. This was the favorite phrase of an endearing fictional character of youth. I also like it, and that’s why when I’m preparing a goal-oriented trip, I try to plan it in order to be successful.
For some time I’ve had an image on my mind. A vision starred by a group of trees flooded at its base, with its reflection on the water, wrapped in a soft mist and in a moment of dawn. A dream is a dream.
For this image I know a beautiful place in the Pyrenees, the Estany Noir (black lake) of Bulloses. And the moment that I imagine is in autumn.
On the first Friday of November, I checked my favorite weather forecasting website and it seemed that the next day conditions could interesting. So I got up very early and moved to the area.
From the parking lot you have to walk about 40 minutes to the lake. During that time, I was starting to be awared that the fog might not be there.
My fears came true, but they were not only confirmed, but worsened. Due to the shortage of rains in recent months the trees were not covered by water.
To complete my misfortune, the morning was cloudy. Very cloudy. So much cloudy to hide the warm light.
Zero of three. Total failure I thought. But I was already there, and I chose to look for something that caught my attention. I prayed for a bit of luck and at least some fog would make appearance.
Walking along the shore I saw it. In the stillness. I looked at him, beginning to recognize the luck I really had.
A photographer I admire is Niall Benvie. In his portfolio you can see images of animals and plants on a totally white background, obtaining a stunning and precious result.

In this way I changed my initial vision for another.
The reflection of the clouds in the lake and the natural light of the moment, perhaps could allow me to wrap my trunk and its reflection in the immaculate white of the nothingness.
I mounted the tripod. Secured the camera. Corrected the frame several times. Set two filters to help me to control the contrast and exposure. Adjusted the parameters. And finally made different attempts until I was satisfied with the image that I were not looking for.
Sometimes it happens that bad luck is not true☺.
